Lynn Sirois, Quebec Folk Artist at Etsy and eBay

I honestly can't remember how I found Lynn Sirois, a talented Quebec folk artist of the Old School. I don't seem to find a lot of Canadians in my search, but I know that's more to do with my search techniques, than a lack of talent. Anyway, I think Lynn resulted from my GMail delivery, an early morning gift, and I got excited and found myself dashing about, trying to find all of her pieces. She offers her work on both eBay and Etsy, so these are a compilation of the two sites.

The following two paintings are ACEOs. I have painted one ACEO, probably my last, and I know how tricky they can be. Lynn seens to revel in them, as you see. How does she get that detail? Remember that they are only 2.5 by 3.5 inches.

Here are two of her much larger paintings, also at eBay. Perhaps you know I'm vegetarian, so I was a bit dubious about the first one, but how can I censor art? The scene is charming. I guess this is a sort of Piggly-Wiggly restaurant... The setting is the Deep South, which looks amazingly like Australia.

This one, believe it or not, is a hand-painted cosmetic purse. It's so pretty, it should be hung on a wall.

Now the following are really special, both available at Etsy. Lynn has painted these amazing scenes on wooden cases, small, about 7" by 6" by 4" (but check her description for the exact measurements). First of all, the shape of these little cases is so unusual and makes them conversation pieces, but then Lynn added these evocative folk art scenes, beautifully rendered. I just know I'm going to end up buying at least one, because they are calling me...

Lynn describes these collectibles as trinket or glasses cases; they would look fantastic on a coffee table. Aren't you intrigued by them? This is what folk art used to be all about - decorated items that were meant to be used, although I would treat them so very gently; great-great-great-grandchildren could be cherishing these one day.

I'm so happy I found Lynn. I'll definitely be bringing her back from time to time.

These works are absolutely delightful, Fran. I'll certainly be checking out Lynn's work on Etsy.
Thanks for offering to feature my work on your blog.

I love Lynn's paintings. Lynn tracked me down a few years ago right before a planned trip to Quebec. We had 20 years to catch up on, and I came home with a beautiful memory of the east coast and our years growing up. I live on a farm on the west coast now, and her painting represents life as it should be. Slower! Whimsical. I am hooked. I want more!
